After getting some
mousseux to start celebrating, we get ready. So far so good,
everything seems to be starting wonderfully well...until I put on my
HOH Holly gown. Usually, not only does this dress fit like a glove,
it fits like THE glove, as it seems to show all the right things in
their best light and leave the rest to the viewers imagination. But
alas, this time around, either it has lost it's magic or something
weird has happened to my body between last week and today as I have
trouble even zipping it on!
Staring dumbly at my
feet, some light pours over my brain and I realize the atrocity of
what is going on: Isa is not made for warm humid weather. I do not
tan (seriously, the darker I get is light pink), I do not function
well in high heat and apparently my body has decided to add another
trick to it's list of things to remind me I am meant for the cool
breeze of the north: water retention!
Last year, I weighed
about 40 pounds more (the price to pay to start a new business in my
case ;)) and I may not have noticed. But I have worked hard at
loosing the extra weight and proved wrong that brain cells come and
go but fat cells live forever. And I wanted that hard work to show.
How can my body betray me like this?
Quick, quick, on the
internet, to read all the tricks on how to get rid of water
retention. Funny enough, the one that all seemed to agree on: drink a
lot of water!
OK. That doesn't help me
for the current party, so I'm going to binge on water like there is
no tomorrow and in the meantime, I'll put a corset dress on to keep
the water all strapped in ;) Plus this peculiar situation will serve as a completely bogus excuse to drink more alcohol, as it is a diuretic, it should help with the water retention, eh. (In fact it doesn't but I'd rather not spend time pondering the complexities of the human body just now)
I look at what I have and
immediately set my sights on this incredibly pretty white satin and
black lace corset dress that we make at the store. It seems to do the
trick and although it is a bit too chic for a play party, I decide I
will make up for it by playing very dirty... ;) Which, upon arriving
to the club is immediately out of the question as the place is PACKED
solid and there is no room to do much. So, after some rubbing and
tugging, some of it good, some of it bad (the bad being a huge black
sweaty dude that pretty much strapped me to his chest with one arm
while petting me with the other and who didn't seem to ever want to
let go) we decide to bow down early (it's about 2am) and head back to
the pool, where we know our friends will come to join us after the
party. Having a car is amazing, as we have to wait for no man (in
this case the man being the bus) and we come and go as we please!
Fetish freedom in a car, I like that :)
So we go change and
decide to commandeer a space in the whirlpool. We aren't the only
ones who thought to get there earlier to have a bit of room before
the craziness occurs and after a little while of chatting with our
wise neighbours, the bulk of the crowd gets here as well as the
poolside DJ and all quietness is a matter of the past (but don't
think for a second that I mean this in a bad way)
I'm glad to see Laura,
the talent behind the amazing Vex brand. I swore to stop
complimenting her so much for fear she will end up charging more once
she realizes her actual worth, but I have to say that of all the
people we do business with, not only is she one of the most talented,
but also one of the most professional and easy to deal with. Also,
and this is certainly not the least important of her quality, she has
a very calm and strong aura, with a great smile and it makes being
around her very pleasant. So we stay a little, but by that time, it's
time for our nap (I always feel so old saying this...) and although
it's hard to pry ourselves away from the party, we remind ourselves
that 20 minutes later we'll be back partying without being one iota
tired unlike the rest of the flock. Seeing things that way, it does
make a whole lot of sense to tear yourself away from the action.
On our way out (people
seem to be a lot more understanding than I thought about this whole
polyphasic sleep thing as soon as we explain why in hell we are going
for a nap now) we get invited to different room parties, which I
always prefer over the official ones because not only do you get to
connect with people more easily as the music is quieter, but that's
also where the good stuff usually happens ;)
But life had another plan
for us, as upon waking up, Seb and I decide to get in the mood and
start playing a little bit and as it's rare we have a lot of time on
our hands that we can just do whatever we want without a deadline, we
completely loose the notion of time and realize at one point that
daylight is now creeping in through the curtains. Scheisse! Oh well,
there are two other nights to make up for it <evil grin>
