Leather Before Buying
Before Buying
When buying something in leather, expect to spend more money then you would on any other material. It's not just about the leather, it's about the labour it takes to make good designs and to sow them together. Plus the equipment involved is apparently extremely expensive (don't try to do it on a regular sewing machine, trust me, I know).

What I find so great about leather is the fact that it smells incredibly good and it will pretty much last forever if you care for it properly. Even when you don't, the leather gets this used and cracked look that can also be neat. I just love walking into a leather store, it smells great and there are so many great pieces of clothing just waiting for me to get poor because I buy them!

What to look for in a quality piece:

        * The name. Makers of leather clothing aquire a name and there's a reason for that. This is the best way to know if you will get a quality item.
        * The quality of stitching. Make sure it looks solid, make sure there are no wrinkles where not intended, make sure it's not crooked. You definitely do not want your piece to look like a drunken designer made it.
        * As one item of clothing will be made with many different pieces of leather, it's important that each were carefully chosen to have the same grain, the same thickness, the same touch and feel. There's wearing cow skin and looking like a cow :P
        * The staff. If they cannot inform you on what's in store, that's not a good start at all. You should be able to get the information you need before you buy anything.
