# NEVER EVER put an oil/petroleum-based product on your latex. It will melt it, same as condoms.
# NEVER EVER put your latex in contact with copper. It will permanently discolour it, especially black garments.
# NEVER EVER let your latex near a heat source. It will permanently damage it.
# Don’t store your latex in a lit or sun exposed place. The sun will discolour it. Regular tungsten lamps light are fine, but try to store in the dark.
# Avoid putting on if the latex is cold. Let it warm at room temperature first. Besides, it's better for you that way. Who likes putting on cold latex anyway?
# Try not to put your latex in long-term contact with metals. You never know what they can be made of that could harm your latex.
# If you have long hair like me, try not to put the garment over your head. If you have to do it, put your hair in a bun first, or they might get stuck and horrible things to the latex might occur while trying to get out/in.
# Although it is said to never wear latex with another material like leather or vinyl (they can have products on the surface that makes them harmful to the latex), I actually do it myself, but if you want to be on the sure side, place a piece of material between the latex and the other piece of clothing. For instance most PVC corset will have a satin or cotton lining, so the latex doesn’t actually touch the PVC.
# Latex is hygroscopic (it absorbs liquid) and when it does so, your latex will appear whiter where it absorbed water. Don’t panic, it’ll return to normal as it dries out.
# Beware of long nails or jewellery, those can pierce your latex
# When putting on stockings, socks or tights, you can roll them first and then unroll them on your legs. It’s a great trick to prevent any tear or dimple.
# The buddy technique is very efficient for latex too, not just hypothermia. It’s much easier and more fun to put on latex with someone else. Except maybe your grandma.
# You shouldn't hang your latex because of the strain caused by the weight, it can stretch them out of shape. I'll admit that for some pieces that's what I do, but I do wear them fairly often, maybe it doesn't affect it as much then. Just like taking your dog (or sub) out to keep them in shape, maybe that's just what's healthy for your latex: wearing it :P
# If you are going to use lubes with a catsuit, sock, stockings or tights, you might want to avoid putting some lube on the feet, or if you do, put boots on before you get up. If not, the lube might make your latex slippery inside and it’s hard to walk, making it easy to fall.
# For pretty much the same reason, if you take off a catsuit with feet in the shower, first sit in the bathtub before you start the water, as to not slip. I know, dying in latex is quite glamorous and you get to wear it forever, but wouldn’t you rather be able to wear another latex suit next week rather then die in it now? What if you’re not sure of the colour?
# If you ever make a dimple in the latex, you can apparently apply heat from a handheld hairblower at a 15-30 cm distance but I have not yet tried that trick.
