First, you can powder your body with some talc as it will absorb sweat and your corset will last longer (the sweat itself is corroding for the material, but it also means you have to wash it more often and the soap also eats the material). I don’t put talc because I’ve always figured that I’d have to wash that out just as much as sweat, but I know some people find that trick convenient so I’ve put it down for you. What I do though is to moisturize my skin before, to make sure the lack of oxygen won’t irritate it, as the corset keeps the skin from breathing perfectly. But then again, I got pretty bitchy high maintenance skin…

This has many advantages like preventing the corset from being in contact with sweat, but also making it easier to get in the corset. My favourite for this (although I have to confess I very rarely use one, but you know, do as I say not as I do…) is a body tube, since it will take your body shape and won’t create uncomfortable wrinkles under the corset. Another trick is to either make or have your skirts made to finish just below the breasts.
Ok, moving on to the actual “putting on a corset” bit. Here’s what I have found to be the best way to actually lace the corset. Note how it’s not like laces on a shoe. There are two reasons I lace my corsets that way :
* I find it a LOT easier to pull on the laces, they seem to just slide more easily * It allows the corset to completely close at the back. The other method has the laces come between the two parts at the back so it doesn’t completely close.
I guess the rest is just experimenting and seing what makes you look best and is the most comfortable. However you should know that a properly made, properly fitted corset should never be painful. If it is, there is something wrong with it. You should take it off at once and if trying to put it back on appropriately does not seem to help, you should consider buying another one, as it might be dangerous to wear a badly made corset.
And talking about taking it off, try to undo the laces before taking off your corset. If not, you’ll need to pull on each sides, which could break it.
